Message Templates

WhatsApp requires pre-approved message templates for outbound messages sent outside the 24-hour conversation window.

Creating a template​

  1. Go to Campaigns > Templates
  2. Click Create Template
  3. Fill in:
    • Name - Template identifier
    • Language - Template language
    • Category - Marketing, Utility, or Authentication
    • Header - Optional (text, image, video, or document)
    • Body - Message text with {{1}}, {{2}} placeholders for variables
    • Footer - Optional footer text
    • Buttons - Optional call-to-action or quick reply buttons
  4. Submit for Meta review

Approval process​

Meta reviews templates within 24-48 hours. Status:

  • Pending - Under review
  • Approved - Ready to use
  • Rejected - Did not meet Meta's policies (reason shown)

Using variables​

Use {{1}}, {{2}}, etc. as placeholders in the body. When sending, you provide the actual values.

Example template:

Hi {{1}}, your order {{2}} has been shipped! Track it here: {{3}}

When sent:

Hi John, your order ORD-456 has been shipped! Track it here: https://track.example.com/ORD-456
