AI Credits
AI agent responses consume credits from your organization's balance. Credits cover the cost of AI model usage, embeddings, and API processing.
How credits are calculated
Each AI response costs credits based on:
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Prompt tokens | The system prompt + knowledge context + conversation history sent to the AI |
| Completion tokens | The AI's generated response |
| Embedding tokens | Vector search for knowledge retrieval |
Tool call multiplier
When an AI agent uses API Tools, the credit cost is 2x the normal rate. This accounts for the additional processing of multi-step tool calling.
Checking your balance
View your current credit balance in Settings > AI Credits.
Adding credits
Credits can be added via:
- Dashboard — Go to Settings > AI Credits > Add Credits
- Auto-recharge — Set a threshold and auto-recharge amount
- Plan inclusion — Some plans include monthly AI credits
Running out of credits
When your credit balance reaches zero:
- AI agents stop responding to new messages
- A notification is sent to the organization owner
- Existing conversations are not affected
- Recharge to resume AI agent responses immediately
